All Events On Hold

I have decided to shut down all Cleveland Cornhole until at least mid-September. Anything that I had scheduled through mid-September has either been cancelled or someone else will be running the event. This includes Fall leagues which I had hoped to start up in September. Those are on-hold until further notice. When a start-up date for league is decided it will be announced a minimum of one month in advance of actually starting. I hope everyone stays safe.

ACL July 2020 Results

Well the venue was very cool, but the event didn’t go as hoped. I apologize to all of you who did not have a good experience. With that, I am temporarily shutting down all Cleveland Cornhole events until things start getting back to normal (minimum 2 months). It’s quite likely that we will NOT start the new season of ACL Regionals in September. Also all Fall leagues that I had hoped to begin in September are on hold as well.

I would like to congratulate all of our winners from Saturday. Our 9 winners will get to bring a guest and sit in a suite at a future Cavs game and thanks to everyone for their support during the 2019-2020 season.

Full Results Below – all prize money will be sent as soon as the ACL sends me the entry fee money.

ACL June 2020 Results

So it was nice to see many of the Cleveland Cornhole players again yesterday. By design the regional was smaller than it was back in February and we ended up with 103 people. Thanks to everyone who came out! Special thanks to Dennis and Denni Fortney for their help, Garrett Cain for allowing us to use the gym and everyone who also helped set-up or clean-up the equipment.

We will be having one more regional to finish up the “2019-2020 ACL Season” in July. It will be July 18th, location TBD… hopefully the location will be set this week and is expected to have Intermediate, Competitive and Advanced included.

Here are the June results.

June (103 Unique Players)
Advanced Singles

1 Trey Burchfield (7028)
2 Tom Walter (22232)
3 Timmy Jonas (25495)
4 Jeff Reynolds (30097)

ACL Regional June 13th?

Hello Cornhole players, I hope all is well. I’ve had an ACL Regional on the schedule for June 13th since February, but obviously I expected it to be cancelled. With Ohio opening back up and the ACL now allowing regionals again, it is allowed with safety precautions.

So I’m trying to see what the interest would be. Please vote below.

  • Since I am not ready to have a 150+ player event (for safety reasons) this one would be Advanced level only. Likely Blind Draw, Doubles and then Singles. Advanced means technically anyone can play.
  • 64 players max per tournament (doubt this will be an issue)
  • This would likely be held at Garrett Cain’s place in Brunswick/Hinkley and beer would be available for purchase.
  • His facility does not have air conditioning, but he does have many industrial type doors that would be open so it would have a bit of an outdoor feel and could be quite warm potentially, but it would be covered.
  • People could sit outside which would help us all social distance. Some indoor space would be available to sit as well.
  • Boards will be separated further than normal to social distance. Probably have around 10 sets set-up if needed.
  • Registration would all be done via the ACL website.

Thoughts? I realize there is also a Pro Invitational near Philly that day, so that might impact some of you as well.

Would You Play on June 13th?

  • Yes (68%, 43 Votes)
  • No - I don't want to play Advanced, but Might Play a Future One Which Has Lower Levels (21%, 13 Votes)
  • No - Not Available (8%, 5 Votes)
  • No - I don't feel it's safe (3%, 2 Votes)

USAC Club Championships

USA Cornhole is having a “Club” event. Each team will consist of 8 players, 2 of which must be women and at least 5 of the 8 must all come from the same “Club” or area. Top 2 teams in the Club Championships will get to play the finals on TV! Yes the preliminary rounds will be done virtually.

Entry fee is just $80/team (of 8), but you must also be a USAC member ($60 covers the year) to play. More details in the links below. If interested in forming a team or entering a team, please let me know.

There are also more events throughout the year that will require a USAC membership including the USAC National Championships which will determine the USA National Team.

The Event That Almost, But Never Was…

Like many of you, I have found myself with a lot more time on my hands. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I look forward to more family time, just not the idea of never leaving my house.

So in this free time I’ve had some time to reflect on cornhole and the event that almost, but never was. There’s no doubt I have a bit more detail in this write-up than you probably care to read, but hey, like I said, I had some time.

This is the cover of the ACL Cleveland National Brochure that very few players (if any) received. I believe one to two thousand of these were printed, just one more thing the ACL did for their players to make this a great event.

My Background
I started playing cornhole back in 2008. My goal at first was to win a game in the new league I joined, but quickly changed Read More…

Cleveland Cornhole

With the global pandemic that is currently happening and to follow the governor’s orders to not have gatherings of 100 people or more I am putting all Cleveland Cornhole events/leagues on hold effective immediately.

Like everyone else I will be following the progression of the virus closely and once it becomes clear that safety is no longer a concern, then events will resume.

I am aware that there are some ways around the governors rules such as at an ACL Regional we could have Advanced players play one Saturday and Intermediate another. And if growth continues that may have to be done next year anyway, but for now, I am not willing to risk anyone’s health over cornhole so I do NOT plan on doing that until at the very least the State of Ohio says it’s ok to have large gatherings once again.

I hope you all understand this decision. I will miss seeing all of you for this period of time, but hope to get back to normal as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Spring Cornhole Leagues

Registration for Spring Cornhole Leagues has been put on hold due to Covid-19. Based on everything I’m hearing, there’s a chance spring cornhole could be cancelled altogether, but we will wait and see how all of this plays out.

We are about half way through the Winter league(s) and have one more league before we take a break for July and August. The Spring Leagues are tentatively scheduled to start on April 6th for Mondays and April 9th for Thursdays.

Current league teams get the first chance to sign-up. Sign-ups for current teams open March 2nd. Since we never have every single team return, remaining spots are then filled first come first served starting March 16th. If you are not currently in a league and want to join, send an email to ClevelandCornhole@att.net at 12:01am on March 16th to pretty much ensure a spot…
