Hello Cornhole league players, thanks to those that took the time to respond to the poll that was sent via email. If you play in the Monday or Thursday cornhole league and did not receive one, well, it’s likely because I don’t have your email address. Send it to me and I’ll add you for future cornhole communications.

So every couple of years I take a poll just to see if I can find a way to make the league better and I share the results with everyone. Here are the results and some of my observations. There were 46 responses.

General League Questions

– The average rating players gave the league was 9.24 with a low of 6.
– The average rating players gave the boards was 9.65. I’m glad to hear this since I invested quite a bit of $ in them earlier this year.
– The average rating players gave the website was 9.26. I know I haven’t updated the look in quite some time, but the goal is just for it to be functional and get the word out on upcoming events, past events and keep everyone updated on standings, etc…

Gym Questions

– Average rating for using the gym for cornhole was 8.00
– Average rating for Drink Prices was 6.61
– Average rating for Food Prices was 7.28
Overall these are decent. I did try and keep drink prices down a bit, but they wouldn’t reduce them. My biggest issue with the gym is the sound. It’s frustrating when people can’t here me. I am going to try and look into more ways to make the sound better for the PA system. Unfortunately, there’s no good way to dampen the sound and echo of all the bags hitting the boards.

How Important Questions?

Putting these in order from most important to least important it’s:
1 – Competition Level 8.70
2 – Location 7.83
3 – # Games Per Night 7.22
4 – Cash Prizes 7.15
5 – Entry Fee 6.41
6 – Trophies 5.70
7 – Food/Drink Prices 5.59
My guess would have been Location would be at the top, but competition level topped the chart. It’s been my belief from the beginning that having divisions where players can compete is extremely important. Nobody wants to show up every week and just get crushed and on the flip side I would think most don’t want to come and just crush teams. They want it to be competitive and that’s the goal.

Location did come in 2nd, no big surprise.

Trophies is the biggest one that is really split by everyone. If you look at the votes 17 players gave trophies a score of 8-10. 15 players voted 4-6 and 14 gave trophies a 1-3. It can’t get any more split than that. My issue would be if I get rid of them, 1/3 of the league would not be happy. Yes, they cost money that could be put into the cash prizes, but some would say they just want a trophy and don’t care about the cash prize, so for now they will stay.

Remaining Questions

Obviously I love to see this results. The league grows because players tell their family and friends about it. I have tried advertising in local papers, I have tried advertising on Facebook, I honestly don’t believe either of those have brought in even 1 team. It’s word of mouth that helps us grow so thank you for sharing with your friends.

The answer to rather play more games vs. fewer games was 27 for more games and 19 for fewer games. This is somewhat split, but then the ideal # of games question shows just about everyone liked 6-8 games. When I put schedules together my target is always 7 games which seems to fit in well here. I obviously can’t always make that happen, but that’s the goal.

Looks like the average for best finish time is 9:30pm. That is also the goal and in most cases we are done by 9:30 unless you have a game in the last group of games on Monday’s.

This question asked would you rather pay $50-$60 to play and play for cash prizes and trophies. Or pay $20-$40 to play and only play for trophies. Obviously a vast majority like the $50-$60 option.
