Please, if you know of a Monday you will need off between now and the end of March, please let me know sooner than later! If you let me know last second, there is a chance that you may have to forfeit.

Here’s how the winter league is going to go. We have 42 teams entered into the league.

All 42 are in the “Competitive Division”, however, since we have so many teams it no longer makes sense to have every team play every team to determine which division you get into. So, for the Winter 2013 league I have split the 42 teams in half based on skill level (mainly based on past performance in the league). So 21 teams will be in the “Top” half and 21 teams will be in the “Bottom” half (shown below). You will then play the other 20 teams in your “half” over the first 4 weeks of the league (basically all of January). If you feel you should be in the top half (but were placed in the bottom) then you can prove it by doing well in round robin play and winning Division III and then next time you will be moved up and I’ll personally send you an “I was wrong” email 🙂 Once you have played your 20 games (5 gms/wk) we will then split the league into FIVE divisions as follows:

Division I will have the top 8 teams (based on record) from the “Top” half of round robin play
Division II will have teams 9-16 from the “Top” half
Division III will take teams 17-21 from the “Top” half and teams 1-5 from the “Bottom” half (10 teams will be in Div III)
Division IV will take teams 6-13 from the “Bottom” half
Division V will take the remaining 8 teams from the “Bottom” half

Week 5 (scheduled to be 2/4) will start off with the Knock Down matches (each match is worth $20, but does not count in the standings) and then Division play will begin. If you end up in Divisions I, II, IV or V you will play each team in your division 3 matches (each match is 2 games). If you are in Division III you will play each team in your division 2 matches. This will run for approximately 7 weeks.

Along with this, each DIVISION will have one mandatory week off during division play. This is being done so that you are not sitting around more than you are playing during these weeks. It will be determined at a later date as to which date you will be off, but again, if you know of a Monday that you will not be able to make, please let me know ASAP.

Finally, as always, the final week of the league will be the double elimination, single game tournament for each division. Also, if you win your division during league play you will be required to move up into the next higher division for the season ending tournament.
