Q & A

Questions/Comments Posted In the Survey
QOne night blind draw for money games all divisions in luck of the draw.
AUnfortunately Blind Draw night are typically the least attended on Monday’s.  I think it’s because “lower” level players don’t want to disappoint their partner and “upper” level players don’t want to risk the chance of getting a “lower” level player…
QI personally liked the singles league
AI liked the singles league too, unfortunately our current venue just isn’t big enough for say a 70 player singles league. I will continue to run singles events when we have open Monday’s in the future.
QKnockdowns
AWe do “knockdown” games for the money games. The negative to “nightly” knockdowns is keeping track of it all and then having a “weighted” schedule which benefits some teams and not others.  Maybe that’s ok, maybe it’s not, I’m not sure…
QPlay more divisions. Not playing same people.
AI do understand this and for the most part I try and do some cross divisional play, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out with the schedule.  Typically the feedback from most “top division” players is they are fine with just playing the best every week.
QHave a few different games before league starts, like an air mail challenge, or a game where everyone gets 8 bags and see who scores the highest. Could charge a few dollars per challenge. would be fun. You could even do this for different levels, like 1 and 2 level, 3 and 4 level, and 5 and 6 level. This would be the fairest way to do this.
AWe could do something with an 8 bag challenge.  Airmail maybe not as I don’t like that there can be controversy when it comes to “was that an airmail or did it slide in” kinds of things.  It would have to be early though at like 6:10 and that would take away from warmups for some.
QI like the different “off night” events. Singles, team night, blind draw etc…
AWill continue to run these when open nights are available and the hall is ok with it.  The hall is not so happy when we only have 30 people there unfortunately…
Q2 man team event. 2 singles games & a doubles game.
AThat’s an interesting suggestion and will be considered.
QChanging up the music here and there.
AStop by and let me know what you want to hear.
QMore seating but probably not possible at the current location
AWe could probably throw out a few more chairs, but ya, the space is limited.
QThe biggest thing would be to play more games each night. Teams get tired of sitting and waiting in between matches.
AYes, I understand and that’s why we are forcing teams to take nights off.  Otherwise if everyone came every week you would only get like 4 games in instead of 6+.
QThe issue I have with Agostinos is the 2 sets of boards up by the entrance. A lot of foot traffic and distractions up there. However I do understand that these are needed with the size of the league
AUnderstandable, but it is true we need them in order to get everyone more games and less waiting.  I do try and not put teams out there more than twice a night (not sure that helps, but it’s true).  Although I lose track sometimes…
QNew Bags Please
ANew bags are on the way for Spring league. Any donations towards the new bags is appreciated.
QNot sure if it can be controlled but “sticky” board suck…..
ASadly this has always been an issue with cornhole and to my knowledge there is no solution to keep the boards always playing the same.  Along with that, some players actually prefer sticky and some prefer a lot of slide, so “cleaning” them every week also means 1/2 the players are happy and half would not be.  If anyone has a good solution for this, let me know.
QMore teams & a bigger venue would be great, but, is it feasible?
AWell, I have never advertised or aggressively sought out teams becaause the venue can only hold so many.  I’m always on the lookout for bigger and better venues, but to date, none have worked out.  If anyone knows of a place, I would be happy to go and check it out.
QMaybe best of 3 game format where players have to switch position
AUnfortunately I have no plans to bring back the best of 3 matches.  They simply take to long and are much harder to predict time wise.  It would also mean teams would end up waiting 60-90 minutes between every match most likely (and I know teams already wait too long as it is in many cases).
QClassify cornhole players on there personal level of play and not there doubles play.
AActually that’s what I do.  Of course if players don’t play singles much (or ever), it’s harder to give them an accurate classification
